No one in Arizona has ever heard of a stomp. Pretty much where I spent almost every Friday night for all 3 years of High School. They never got old...(except slow dancing to Stairway to Heaven with a dork wad boy). I could dance my heart out for hours on end. Stomps remind me of Watermelon bubble gum. All the "cool" guys would drink before the stomp and then chew watermelon bubble gum so their dumb girlfriends wouldn't know they had broken the word of wizzle. That or suck on a penny. Neither which actually worked. I don't remember the teachers ever entering the dance floor, although if Mr. Haning would have come on to the dance floor to dance with us, my life would have been complete. I loved him. I couldn't help but think of this when my 15 year old student pulled me on to the dance floor to dance the Mexican Polka..I was laughing so hard considering the situation I was in. I clearly don't know how to Mexican Polka. Anyway...My students brought their own turn tables to DJ the last day of school Dance. It was hilarious. When they played Lollipop they threw Lollipops into the crowd. A lot of thought must have gone into this. I can just picture them planning and someone thought it would be so cool to do that. Geeks. But I love them.

Oh, stomps...the sawdust floors, the Depeche Mode, the dancing close and the moments of mini-passion. I hear you about Haning - he was scandalously hot back then and coupled with how completely inappropriate he was with us girls...well, he was a wolf in babe's clothing! Your cute kids - they probably were dying that they were dancing with such a hot teacher!
I would kill to go to a stomp right now! I am dying to do the Electric Slide and Macarena. Damn, those really were the days. Plus OHS knew how to get down and dirty. TIGER PRIDE BABY!
I'm sure you just made that boys dreams come true by doing the mexican polka.
I'm still laughing at the word of wizzle
Ahhh, stomps... there are so many innapropriate comments I could make about the Mexican Polka, referring to the word polka, and that boy who will be thinking about your the way you have thought about haning (who is still quite the handsome man). And the wizzle word is funny - when are you coming to town?
I loved me a stomp!
It's so funny how the word STOMP is only known in Utah. I've used that word out here in DC and the kids look at me like I'm drunk. I miss those days!
I never heard of a "stomp" until my cousins in Utah filled me in. Sucking on a penny? Does that really work?? I have never heard of that either, but in TX the only one not drinking was me, but someone had to be the designated driver!! Who knows how many of my friends I saved!! :)
you know what jakob dreamt about that night.....
P-didd....this post made me laugh so hard. You brought me back to my stomp days. I was never a huge fan. Maybe because my chicken dance wasn't that popular. hhhh. I wish you would have videoed you doing the mexican polka. Awesome.
Paigie...the stomp/Utah thing has been going on for ever. When Bruce and I lived in Cali. 30 years ago I suggested a stomp to the Mutual girls and I was met with "A WHAT?????" You are on the top of the Izzy list but you also may have to take the birth mom until she gets busted again...Deal? xoxo
I am so proud of you for dancing the Mexian Polka...and a little jealous. Next time you are in Utah you can teach it to me.
Oh-I loved stomps soooooo much! I miss those crazy things. It's so fun to see you as a teacher with all your cute students!
