Okay...I'm sad to report that Oprah did not grace us with her presence today. Anyway, Martha came and spoke to the kids and it really was very motivating. She talked about how Oprah had lots of things happen to her as a child and beat the odds by becoming one of the most influential people. She taught the kids how to find peace inside themselves by doing these little exercises, such as recognizing when you are going into fight or flight mode. She talked about some typical things like breathing, thinking positively etc, but for some reason it was really good for the kids. One student told her that her biggest challenge was that her mother could not accept the fact that she was gay, and thats when Martha said she had been with a woman for 13 years. I could go on and on, but instead I'll post some pictures of the activities we did today. I have to say that I think that part of being happy is letting go of things that have happened in the past, and I don't think she has done this. There is no reason to hate a religion. I just don't get it. But anyway...

MARTHA part deux

I guess if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.
I guess I can say that you look very cute in that top photo.
I guess I can agree with that - and I can agree with your advice for Martha, "let go and let God." PS: P, I need a name to go with that quote, who said it?
Well my student Anthony used to tell me to "Let go and let God" everytime I dropped him off. He ended up leaving our school cuz we told him he couldn't bring his Bible to school and preach to people. He was so on the movie Saved. I think right now he is probably hitting the board for the Lord.
Paige - I hope you guys did some trust falls!
i love that you are giving that boy a blessing that is so sweet paige.
I just read Tiana's comment and was confused, went back to the post and laughed out loud scaring Dave.
Everyone at Lifeline in the 12 step program always told me to "Let go and let God" ...I think they were just trying to get me to stop crying out loud during the "meetings"...xoxoxosis
