We had a family ear candling party while we were in Cali. It was the first time any of us had done it, and we aren't really sure what to think. You could definitely hear something working and feel something working too. But I didn't feel all that different after. The most fun was to cut open the candle and see what was inside. Pretty nasty, but it was a pretty fun night, although there were a lot of non believers in the family who didn't want to participate.
